GREEN RING | MASTER PLAN FOR FLORIDA ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY

Student Honor Award by The Fort Lauderdale Chapter of THE AIA

Florida Atlantic University was founded in 1964, when most of the buildings branched directly off the central core called the breezeway. Since then newer buildings have been placed further and further away from the breezeway and the campus loosened the urban fabric within the campus.

Vegetation  was brought to campus by taking advantage of the natural landscape around the campus. Allowing vegetation to invade the campus will replace much of the harsh asphalt with a new garden of trees.

Smaller rooms of trees within the garden belt throughout the campus will become place where students could spend time and enjoy their campus more.
